Our Craft
Every piece of jewelry begins long before it reaches your hands.
At EG Eastern Gloss, we honor the centuries-old tradition of Chinese lacquer craftsmanship by preserving the meticulous techniques that have been refined through generations of artisans. Unlike modern mass production, our process is slow, deliberate, and entirely guided by skilled hands.
Our lacquer is derived from the natural sap of lacquer trees, a rare material valued for its exceptional durability, rich texture, and timeless beauty. Each lacquer bead is carefully shaped before receiving multiple hand-applied layers of natural lacquer. After every layer, the bead is left to cure naturally and then polished by hand to create the deep, luminous finish that defines authentic lacquer art. This process is repeated many times, requiring patience, precision, and attention to every detail.
Once the lacquer work is complete, each bead is paired with carefully selected natural gemstones and assembled by hand. Because every stage is completed individually, slight variations in color, texture, and pattern naturally occur—making every piece truly unique.
To us, craftsmanship is not simply a method of production; it is a commitment to quality, authenticity, and respect for tradition. Every creation reflects countless hours of skilled work, transforming natural materials into jewelry that is designed to be admired, treasured, and worn for years to come.
